Worker House: unemployment rate in Iran is 17 percent
Azerbaijan, Baku, June 28 /Trend/
Despite government promise of creating 2.5 million jobs in current solar year (started on March20,2011)Iran unemployment rate is 17 percent , ILNA reported quoting deputy of Worker House Hassan Sadeghi as saying.
"Promise of creating 1.600 jobs in last solar year (end March20, 2011) is unrealistic while more than 300 people lost their jobs during last year," he said.
Government promised to create 2.5 million jobs in current year, however the unofficial statistics predicts 2 percent economic growth. Therefore it's impossible to create so many jobs, he noted.
He underlined the labor minister should explain investing $60 billion in the early profitable jobs plan.
Considering World Bank report of Iran's two percent economic growth, it's only possible that 300 to 400 thousands jobs have been created in last solar year, he added.
The plan "Creating early profitable jobs", which lasted from 2005 to 2009 establish by government.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad promised to create 2.5 million jobs and solve the unemployment problems by the end of solar year.
