Iranian cement production hit 72 million tons

Iranian cement production capacity has surpassed 72 million tons, making the country the cement producing leader in the region, the IRNA reported quoting Commerce Minister Mehdi Ghazanfari as saying.

"The country's production capacity had surpassed 72 million tons by launch of new cement factory in Azarbadegan," he said.

The new cement factory increases country's production capacities from 71.1 million tons to 72.1 million tons.

Iran exported 7 million tons of cement to neighbor countries last solar year (ended on March20,2011), he added.

Iran cement production on first three months of the current year reached to more than 17 million tons.

Iran stands first cement producer in the region while it ranked fourth in Asia and ninth major producers in the world.
