Ahmadinejad's candidate for Oil Ministry Rostam Ghasemi said that he plans to avoid any political activities and seeks to accelerate development of South Pars oil and gas field alongside joint fields with Iraq

Ahmadinejad's candidate for Oil Ministry Rostam Ghasemi said that he plans to avoid any political activities and seeks to accelerate development of South Pars oil and gas field alongside joint fields with Iraq, Mehr News Agency reported quoting Roustam Ghasemi as saying.

Ghasemi noted acceleration of South Pars development plan and joint fields with Iraq and boosting human resources are his main priorities.
"Development of Iran's joint fields and South Pars gas field and improvement of joint fields with Iraq are my priorities," he said.

Preserving hydrocarbon reservoirs and preventing halt of oil production are on his agenda as well.

Despite early speculations over Mohammad Aliabadi's candidacy for Oil Ministry the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad chose Roustam Ghasemi for the post and submit his name alongside 2 other candidates to parliament.

The candidates will explain their future plans for new ministries to receive MPs confidence vote.

According to latest news the government list of nominees to head the new merged ministries includes Roustam Ghasemi as the Oil Minister, Abdolreza Sheikholeslami as the minister for Cooperatives, Labor and social Security, Mehdi Ghazanfari as minister of Industry, Mines and Trade and Mohammad Abbasi as minister of Sport and Youth Affairs.
