The Azerbaijan Bank Standard will launch its own processing centre in 2012, Bank CEO Salim Kriman told Trend.

"We're going to launch our own in-house processing centre in 2012. All the preparatory work is almost completed. It is expected that the full launch will take place early in the second quarter of 2012" Mr Kriman said.

He said the centre will complete the international payment certification process systems with VISA and MasterCard by the end of 2012.

"The whole system will operate via AzeriCard up to this point," Mr Kriman said, adding that the Bank Standard Bank has only issued about 30,000 cards, which is insufficient,

"The new processing centre will offer such products and services to card holders, which will help us to significantly increase their number," he said.

The bank has already completed the installation of core banking software and the installation of front-office-programmes is being finished now.

"After the processing launch we plan to attract other banks to service their cards at our processing centre," Mr Kriman added.

Azerbaijan has five processing centres: Azericard, MilliKart, TexKart, RoyalCard and processing KapitalBank.

Following its establishment in 1995, Bank Standard functioned as a retail bank specialising in providing services to individuals. Beginning in 2004 and on changing its name, Bank Standard reviewed its development plan and has changed itself into a universal commercial bank focused on serving both individuals and the business sector, providing a broad range of financial services to its clients.
