A Turkmenistan government delegation plans to pay a working visit to Belarus from Jan.29 to Feb.1 to participate at the meeting of the intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation, Turkmen government said on Jan.27.

The issue of preparation for the commission's meeting was discussed during the last governmental meeting in Ashgabat, according to Turkmen government.

"Today the traditional friendly relations between the two countries are characterised by the high level of fruitful and mutually beneficial cooperation in many fields," Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said.

Foreign trade turnover between Belarus and Turkmenistan has increased fivefold in the past five years. Belarus exports tractors, trucks, road, construction and agricultural equipment, bicycles, tyres, medicines, chemical fibre, wood products and food to Turkmenistan.

The most large scale example of bilateral cooperation in the economic sphere is the implementation of the project of Belgorkhimprom JSC and Turkmenhimiya state concern for construction of the Garlyk mining and processing plant for the production of potash by Belarusian specialists in Turkmenistan.
