Volume of real estate property sales in Turkey up

In January 2018, the volume of real estate properties sold in Turkey grew 1.7 percent compared to January 2017 and reached 97,000, according to a report of the Turkish Statistical Institute.

The report said that 16,336 properties were sold in Istanbul, 9,720 in Ankara and 5,841 in Izmir in January 2018.

The remaining 65,103 properties account for the share of other cities of Turkey.

In January 2018, 1,742 real estate properties were sold to foreigners in Turkey, which is 25.7 percent more than in January 2017.

The report said that 545 properties were sold to foreigners in Istanbul and 427 in Antalya in January 2018.

The remaining 770 properties sold to foreign citizens account for the share of other cities of Turkey.

In January 2018, citizens of Iraq purchased 272 properties in Turkey, citizens of Saudi Arabia – 160, citizens of Afghanistan – 124 and Russian citizens – 212, the report said.

The remaining 974 properties account for the share of citizens of other countries.
