Living wage in Kazakhstan increases

Living wage in Kazakhstan amounted to 27,850 tenge in June 2018, which is 5.2 percent more, compared to the previous month, 8.8 percent more, compared to January 2018 and 10.9 percent more year over year, Kazakh media outlets reported.

The inflation rate, in turn, amounted to 0.2 percent – within a month, 2.6 percent - from the beginning of 2018 and 5.9 percent – year over year.

The living wage also differs depending on the country’s socio-demographic groups. The mentioned indicator for the able-bodied women and men increased by 9 percent since the beginning of 2018, for pensioners - by 8.8 percent, for children under 13 years – by 7.9 percent.

Women and men have different living costs in Kazakhstan. For example, according to this indicator, 20.6 percent less food, non-food products and services are required for able-bodied women.

Among Kazakhstan’s regions, the largest subsistence level was observed in Mangistau region (34,270 tenge, 10.8 percent increase since the beginning of 2018), Astana (32,250 tenge, 9.4 percent increase since the beginning of 2018), and Almaty 31,290 tenge, 7.9 percent increase since the beginning of 2018).
