Iran's non-oil exports to Iraq increased by 50 percent during the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2018), Hamid Hosseini, secretary-general of the Iran-Iraq Joint Chamber of Commerce, told the Young Journalists Club (YJC), Trend reports.

According to Hosseini, stability can now be observed in the Iranian exports to Iraq, adding that Iraq imposed a ban on chicken imports from Iran due to the spread of bird flu, which led to the chicken getting smuggled into Iraq.

Commenting on the smuggling of livestock products to Iraq, Hosseini said if transit is permitted, Iraq can provide its meat needs this way.

"Thus it will become possible to prevent animal smuggling from Iran to Iraq," he said.

According to Iran's non-oil exports statistics, Iran has exported 15.4 million tons of products worth $6.9 billion to Iraq from March 21, 2018.
