A salt production plant will open at the end of 2020 in the Georgian city of Rustavi as part of the government's “Produce in Georgia” program, said Levan Gulordava, the founder of the Georgian company Global Enterprise, Trend reports citing commersant.ge.

According to the head of the company, the plant is currently under construction and in October 2020 the enterprise will be ready for production.

For the construction, the National Agency of State Property of Georgia transferred to the company a land plot with an area of more than 15,500 square meters. The plant is being built by Global Enterprise in accordance with modern standards, and the latest equipment for the processing, iodization and packaging of salt will be installed at the enterprise.

“The pant will produce four types of Himalayan salt - pink, white, black and red. Products will be packed in branded bottles, design and packaging have already been developed, and logos are in the process of preparation. Himalayan salt has unique capabilities that benefit individuals suffering from thyroid diseases and allergies,” said Levan Gulordava.

The company's product will be sold both in the local market and in the EU countries. “We invited an expert from Italy, because the production must meet certain standards in order to obtain an ISO certificate,” said Levan Gulordava.

The company plans to produce annually at least 2,500 tons of salt. As expected, the Global Enterprise's products will replace most of the imported salt in Georgia.
