The growth of passenger handling in airports of Kazakhstan amounted to some 24 percent over the course of last couple of years, Deputy Chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee of Kazakhstan Aybek Alzhanov said, Trend reports with reference to the press office of prime minister of Kazakhstan.

According to Alzhanov, a steady growth of indicators in civil aviation is observed, including both the number of serviced passengers and transported passengers.

“We see the increase of about 24 percent in the number of passengers serviced in Kazakh airports. For example, the number of serviced in Kazakh airports in 2015 amounted to 12 million passengers, whereas last year this number amounted to 15 million passengers. During first eight months of 2019 this number already equaled 11.8 million passengers, which indicates an increase compared to the same period of last year,” he said.

Furthermore, following the end of 2018 the number of transported passengers increased by 1.3 times. The total number of passengers transported during first eight months of 2019 equaled 5.6 million people, which is 1.8 percent more compared to the same period of last year. According to Alzhanov, the reason for the increase lies in launch of new routes and establishment of new air companies.

The number of transit passengers in 2018 amounted to 900,000 people, which is 45 percent more than in 2017. During eight months of 2019 this number stood at 642,000 people. Based on the preliminary forecasts, the number of transit passengers will be 1.6 million people this year.

Furthermore, the construction and reconstruction of 16 Kazakh airfields before year 2025 is overseen within the framework of Nurly Zhol state program.
