Georgia increases fruit exports

The volume of exports of fruits and nuts from Georgia in 2019 amounted to $121.88 million in monetary terms, Trend reports citing data of the Georgian National Statistics Service (Geostat).

The share of fruits and nuts in Georgia’s total exports during this period ($3.7 billion) amounted to 3.2 percent.

The major part of exports accounts for hazelnuts - $63.34 million, tangerines - $18.45 million, peaches - $12.48 million, bananas - $5.36 million, apples - $4.59 million, persimmon - $4.20 million, oranges - $1.51 million, pistachios - $1.45 million, walnuts - $1.36 million, as well as blueberries and other berries - $ 0.98 million.

Fruit exports grew by 17.5 percent in 2019, as compared to 2018.

The export of vegetables from Georgia in 2019 amounted to $11.55 million. The share of vegetables in Georgia’s total exports for the same period was 0.3 percent.

The major part of exports accounted for tomatoes - $2.29 million, mushrooms - $1.12 million, cucumbers - $1.11 million and potatoes - $0.98 million.

In 2019, the volume of exports of vegetables from Georgia decreased by 27.7 percent compared to 2018.
