Economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and China will be certainly restored at the proper level immediately after the threat of the coronavirus weakens, Charge d'Affaires at the Chinese embassy in Azerbaijan Li Jin Song told Trend
The diplomat stressed that currently, there is still strong cooperation between Azerbaijan and China in the field of cargo transportation, which will be continued at the proper level immediately after the problem is eliminated.
"I do not know exactly the current situation in the field of supplies, but I am sure that this is temporary and cooperation with Azerbaijan will be expanded,” Li said. “The threat of coronavirus is the only obstacle to these relations and the Chinese government is taking all measures to eliminate it."
“Many different companies are currently closing down for an indefinite period, various major events have been cancelled and most of the international flights have been suspended due to the outbreak of a new type of coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in China, which is already having a negative impact on the global economy,” the diplomat added.
The diplomat said that the latest economic indicators of cooperation among some partner countries of China are already subject to some shifts over the past month and the reason for this is certainly associated only with the outbreak of coronavirus.
Li said that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to China as part of the One Belt, One Road Summit at the beginning of last year contributed to the development of trade, economic and other relations.
The diplomat expressed the hope that this cooperation will continue and strengthen despite the current situation.
Li also mentioned that the previously planned visit of the Chinese delegation to Baku was postponed for an indefinite period due to the epidemic and expressed confidence that it will be definitely made.
The outbreak in the Chinese city of Wuhan - which is an international transport hub - began at a fish market in late December 2019. Since then nearly 500 people have died. Some sources claim the coronavirus outbreak started as early as November 2019.
The symptoms include cough, headache, fatigue, fever, aching and difficulty breathing. It is primarily spread through airborne contact or contact with contaminated objects.
Chinese health authorities say that the majority of the people who have died were either elderly or had underlying health problems.
Aside from Mainland China, the cases of coronavirus spreading have also been confirmed in Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, the US, France, Germany, South Korea, Canada, Vietnam, Cambodia, Nepal and Sri Lanka, the UAE, Canada, Italy, Russia, Nepal, Sweden and Finland.
