The Khorasan Steel Company of Razavi Khorasan province (northeastern Iran) has produced more than 180,000 tons of steel pellets in the second month of the current Iranian year (April 20 - May 20, 2020), said Kasra Ghafouri, CEO of the company, Trend reports citing the company’s official website.
According to Ghafouri, despite difficulties in the supply of equipment and raw materials and the spread of the coronavirus, a new record was set in monthly production.
Ghafouri added that the company's previous record for pellet production was set in the 9th month of last Iranian year (November 22-December 21, 2019). Thus, 166,000 tons of pellets were produced that month.
The CEO said that this production increased by 13,700 tons over the past five months.
The plant of the Khorasan Steel Company of Iran annually produces 600,000 tons of steel lists, 1.4 million tons of steel products, 1.6 million tons of sponge iron and 2.5 million tons of pellets. The company employs 5,000 people.
