Uzbekistan has increased exports of Uzbek products to the US and Canadian markets, Trend reports citing Dunyo News Agency.

The country mainly exported fruit and vegetables, textile, machine-building, fuel and energy and chemical products, as well as non-ferrous metals.

In the period from January through May 2020, the volume of Uzbek goods supplied to Canada has increased more than tenfold, compared to the same period of 2019, and reached the historical mark of $23.6 million.

In 2019, exports of Uzbek products to Canadian market grew 2.7 times compared to 2018, making up $1.1 million with the total turnover of $10 million.

Since the beginning of 2020, Uzbekistan's exports to the US have amounted to $2.64 million, having increased by six percent, compared to the same period in 2019.

In 2019, Uzbekistan's trade turnover with the U.S. totaled $596.2 million, showing a 43-percent growth compared to 2018.

The Uzbek government is holding talks with the US government to remove the country from the Jackson–Vanik amendment to the Trade Act of 1974.

According to the Jackson-Vanik amendment, most favored nation (MFN) treatment can be extended only to non-market economies whose emigration regime is liberal. The United States imposes sanctions against violators, mainly relating to the restriction of the admission of goods produced in this country to the American market.
