Iran declares amount of money paid to wheat farmers in Yazd Province

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 18

About 67 billion rials ($1.59 million) has been paid to wheat farmers in the Yazd Province (central Iran) from the beginning of current Iranian year (March 20, 2020) to July 18, Director of Government Trading Corporation (GTC) of Iran’s branch in Yazd Province Hamid Paydar Ardakani said, Trend reports citing the corporation’s website.

The GTC director emphasized that this is 78 percent of the price of purchased wheat.

He added that 3,872 tons of wheat and 209 tons of rapeseed have been purchased from farmers to date.

Paydar Ardakani noted that the value of rapeseed purchased from farmers in Yazd Province stands at more than 10 billion rials (about $238,000).

He added that 5.9 million tons of wheat were purchased from farmers in Iran as of July 16.

The price of rapeseed to be purchased from farmers in the current planting year is set at 46,600 rials (about $1.1) per kilogram. A number of products, including wheat, tea, rice and other products are purchased from farmers by a state company under a guarantee in Iran.
