Public catering turnover in Baku continues to decline

The turnover of the public catering sector slumped by 57.3 percent in real terms from January through August 2020, compared to the same period of 2019, amounting to 288.4 million manat ($169.6 million), Trend reports citing the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan.

According to the committee, 61.3 percent of the turnover in the public catering sector in the private sector fell to the share of legal entities.

In the first eight months of 2020, 38.7 percent of the turnover in the private-public catering sector accounted for the share of individual entrepreneurs.

At the same time, the turnover of legal entities decreased by 41.4 percent year on year, making up 179.3 million manat ($105.4 million).

In 2019, the volume of trade turnover in Baku rose by 4.2 percent compared to 2018 and amounted to 22.2 billion manat ($13.3 billion). The volume of food, drinks, and tobacco products sold in the trading network of the capital increased by 0.8 percent over the year and exceeded 10.5 billion manat ($6.17 billion). The volume of sales of non-food products increased by 7.7 percent and surpassed 11.6 billion manat ($6.82 billion).
