Turkish investors eye medical masks production launch in Kazakhstan

Turkey’s MFA Mask, which one of the largest suppliers of masks in Europe is planning to invest in the production of medical masks in Kazakhstan’s Nur-Sultan city, Trend reports citing KAZAKH INVEST National Company.

The corresponding trilateral memorandum on the implementation of the project was signed between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Akimat of Nur-Sultan, and MFA Mask during a meeting chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yeraly Tugzhanov.

The enterprise will be established in Nur-Sultan’s Astana - the New City Special Economic Zone. The project with a total cost of about $9.3 million is to be implemented with the support of KAZAKH INVEST.

The signed document said that Turkish businessmen intend to implement the project in two stages by 2024. In October 2021, the implementation of the project’s first stage is to be completed, which will allow producing up to 3.5 million medical devices annually.

Following the implementation of the second stage, the production volume will be increased to 10 million units a year. The enterprise will produce respirators of the FFP2 and FFP3 class, the production of gas masks and filters, as well as self-oxidizing masks for evacuation will be organized. The implementation of the project will create about 100 permanent jobs.

The company plans to use modern Turkish and German equipment. In addition, supplies of high quality certified raw materials from Turkey will be established. The manufactured products will be supplied to the Kazakhstan market and exported to Russia and the countries of Central Asia.
