Kazakhstan, Mongolia eye signing roadmap for trade, economic co-op

Kazakhstan and Mongolia have expressed interest in signing a Roadmap for Activation of Trade and Economic Cooperation for 2021-2024, Trend reports citing Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Trade and Integration.

The topic of Kazakhstan-Mongolia cooperation was discussed during a meeting in a video format between Kazakhstan’s Minister of Trade and Integration Bakhyt Sultanov and Mongolian Minister of Labour and Social Protection Ariunzaya Ayush.

Within the framework of the meeting parties discussed a wide range of bilateral cooperation. In particular, areas such as trade and economic cooperation, cooperation in investment, entrepreneurship, transport, agriculture were discussed.

In order to develop and expand trade and investment cooperation between countries, as well as to establish cooperation projects, parties expressed interest in signing a roadmap to enhance trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Mongolia for 2021-2024.

“We are also planning to create a Kazakh-Mongolian Business Council, which will serve as a good platform for maintaining and establishing business contacts, exchanging information on available business opportunities, opportunities for projects and joint ventures,” Sultanov said.

Special attention was paid to the need to create a reliable transport and logistics corridor capable of ensuring the flow of goods on competitive terms.

In the context of COVID-19 pandemic, the issue of maintaining regular freight traffic, necessity for international regular bus and direct flights and need make significant contribution to the development of bilateral relations between countries was noted.
