Iran increases exports to Iraq

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 2

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

The exports of Iran to Iraq increased by 31 percent in terms of value and 53 percent in terms of volume during the first five months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through August 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Head of Iran-Iraq Joint Chamber of Commerce, Jahanbakhsh Sanjabi told ILNA, Trend reports.

The official stressed that Iran exported 12 million tons of goods worth $3.16 billion to Iraq within the mentioned period. While in the same period last Iranian year, Iran's exports to Iraq amounted to 7.8 million tons worth $2.4 billion.

Sanjabi added that given the influx of European and East Asian investment companies into Iraq and the increase in Iraq's oil revenues, Iraq's imports are expected to increase by the end of 2021 and 2022. This is a great opportunity for Iranian businessmen.

“At present, Iran's trade with Iraq continues on the basis of health protocols,” he noted.

Reportedly, Iran imported 246,000 tons of goods worth $140 million from Iraq in five months.
