Iran's government orders supply of basic goods to local markets at newly set prices

TEHRAN, Iran, May 17. Deputy Minister of Agricultural Jihad Mohammed Qorbani has announced the distribution of 7,000 tons of chicken, and 120,000 tons of cooking oil at a new price, Trend reports citing IRNA.

“All stores in the country are obliged to sell basic goods at the approved prices,” said Qorbani.

According to the official, the inspection department of the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad monitors the distribution process and prices of basic goods.

Meanwhile, Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi has spoken about major reforms in the country’s subsidies system. On May 12, the government announced that the price hikes have been extended to cooking oil, chicken, eggs, and dairy products.
