BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 12. Iran aims to increase agricultural production to 180 million tons annually by March 21, 2026, Chairman of Iran’s Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization Mojtaba Khayyam Nekouei said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ministry of Agriculture Jihad.

At present, Iran’s annual agricultural production is around 125 million tons, according to Nekouei.

The chairman added that Iran also plans to increase its annual fishery production by nearly 100 percent to 2.6 million tons by March 21, 2026.

“At the same time, Iran has a plan to create conditions for the start-up companies to operate in the agricultural sector. Based on this plan, 5 innovation and technology parks were established by public sector, as well as work is underway to create 5 more innovation and technology parks,” he said.

Nekouei also noted that some 4-5 innovation and technology parks hopefully will be established by the private sector by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2023). The mentioned parks will contribute to increasing the production of agricultural products.
