BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 29. Iran’s non-oil exports through the Jolfa border checkpoint in the East Azerbaijan Province (north-western Iran), increased by 45 percent in value and 28 percent in volume, during the first seven months of the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through February 19, 2023), compared to the same period in the preceding year, Director General of Jolfa Customs Office Mohammad Khalili told IRNA, Trend reports.

The customs official said that about 240,000 tons of goods worth $135 million were exported through the Jolfa border checkpoint within the mentioned 11 months.

“In addition, approximately $559 million worth of goods were imported through Jolfa border checkpoint for the reporting period, which is 27 percent more than in the same period in the preceding year,” he added.

Khalili also noted a total of $724 million worth of cargo were transited through Jolfa border checkpoint in 11 months. This is an increase of 50 percent more compared to the same period in the preceding year.

The director general the revenues of Jolfa Customs Office for the first 11 months of the last Iranian year amounted to about 22.6 trillion rials (about $538 million), which is an increase of 669 percent compared to the same period in the preceding Iranian year.

The Jolfa border checkpoint is located on the border with Iran and Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

Overall, Iran exported over 111 million tons of non-oil products worth $48.8 billion within the first 11 months of the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through February 19, 2023). This is an increase of 12.2 percent in value, while a decrease of 1 percent in volume compared to the same period in the preceding Iranian year.

At the same time, Iran imported a total of 33.6 million tons of goods worth $53.7 billion for 11 months, which is an increase of 15.2 percent in value, while a decrease of 8.61 percent in volume compared to the same period in the preceding Iranian year.
