Baku sea port reduces oil cargo transshipment
Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 28 /Trend E.Ismayilov/
The Baku International Sea Trade Port transshipped 1.26 million tons of oil cargo in January-November, compared to 1.55 million in the same period of last year, a source in Baku port told Trend on Friday.
The decrease in oil cargo transshipment from Central Asia is associated with their redirection to the oil terminal located in the Sangachal settlement.
"Transshipment of oil cargo reduced by 18 percent during eleven months," the source said.
In 2011 the port transshipped 1.74 million tons of oil cargo which is 13 per cent less than in 2010.
The Baku International Sea Trade Port transshipped 1.99 million tons of oil cargo in 2010 which is less by 21 per cent compared to 2009.
The decline rates were stipulated by the decreased transit of Kazakh and Turkmen oil and redirection of some oil cargo from Central Asia to the oil terminal at Sangachal.
In 2009, Baku Port transshipped 2.5 million tons of oil cargo which is 10 per cent less than in 2008. In total, in 2009, the port transshipped 5.1 million tons of cargo.
