Production development project cost in Kazakh Karachaganak field announced

The production development project cost in the Karachaganak field is estimated at $ 15-20 billion in Kazakhstan, Kazakh Vice Minister of Oil and Gas Magzum Mirzagaliyev told Trend on March 26.

"The production development project cost in the Karachaganak field is estimated at $ 15-20 billion," he said. "The cost of the first phase, the implementation of which is scheduled for 2017, is estimated at $5 billion."

"The project opens up great opportunities for Kazakh producers," he said.

"The participation of the largest Kazakh companies and professional associations will be required in the project implementation," he said. "So, the design operations, construction volumes must be partially conducted by the Kazakh organizations."

"Currently, the Kazakh market is being examined for opportunities for Kazakh business in the project," he said.

"The forum of service and machine-building companies will be held in Uralsk in April 2014," he said. "The detailed information about the work and services to be required from Kazakh companies will be provided."

Currently, the operations are underway to create the Aksai Industrial Park, designed to provide "Karachaganak Petroleum Operating" with the services and products of local manufacturers and suppliers in accordance with the world level standards.

Karachaganak is an oil and gas condensate field in northwestern Kazakhstan, which is one of the largest in the world. The deposit area is 280 square kilometers. Its reserves are estimated at over 1.2 billion tons of oil and condensate and more than 1.35 trillion cubic meters of gas.

Karachaganak Petroleum Operating" (KPO) international consortium is developing the field. The company is a joint venture: BG Group (29.25 percent), Eni (29.25 percent), Chevron (18 percent), LUKOIL (13.5 percent) and KazMunaiGas national company (10 percent).
