The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan has commissioned a laboratory at the ethylene-polyethylene plant in the country's Sumgait city after the overhaul.
The ethylene-polyethylene plant is owned by Azerkimya production association of SOCAR.
The expenditures on the overhaul of the lab for control on quality and production totaled 613,800 Azerbaijani manats.
The laboratory has also been provided with the modern equipment of Russia and German production.
Moreover, the work on constructing a facility for purifying gas from sulfur compounds and a facility for hydrogenation of gas fractions continues at the plant.
At the same time, the work on modernization in the sphere of generation of steam and electricity is underway.
SOCAR includes production associations Azneft (the enterprises producing oil and gas onshore and offshore), Azerkimya (the chemical industry enterprises) and Azerigaz.
The company also has a number of processing enterprises, service enterprises, and institutions involved in geophysical and drilling operations.
SOCAR is the sole producer of oil products in Azerbaijan. It has two oil refineries and filling stations in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine, Romania and Switzerland.
SOCAR is the co-owner of the largest Turkish petrochemical complex, Petkim, and other assets in Turkey.
Moreover, currently, the company is carrying out work as part of ensuring the supply of Azerbaijani gas to Europe.
