The global demand for oil and other liquid hydrocarbons will rise to 95.29 million barrels per day in 2016 and to 96.78 million barrels per day in 2017, says the short-term energy outlook for July issued by the US Energy Information Administration (EIA).
In its energy outlook for June 2016, the EIA forecast the global consumption of oil and other liquid hydrocarbons at the level of 95.26 million barrels per day and 96.73 million barrels per day, respectively, in 2016 and 2017.
The global consumption of oil and other liquid hydrocarbons totaled 93.85 million barrels per day in 2015 and 92.45 million barrels per day in 2014, according to the EIA.
The EIA says the global consumption of oil and other liquid hydrocarbons was 93.3 million barrels per day in Q1 2016 and 94.9 million barrels per day in Q2 2016, and is forecast at the level of 95.98 million barrels per day in Q3 2016 and 95.96 million barrels per day in Q4 2016.
The quarterly production is expected at the level of 95.72 million, 96.41 million, 97.53 million and 97.44 million barrels per day, respectively, in 2017.
