By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

Three tenders are planned to be held in the first quarter of 2018 as part of the Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB) project, which envisages transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Bulgaria, Teodora Georgieva, executive officer at ICGB AD joint venture company, the project’s operator, told Trend.

“The project company is preparing a procedure under Public Procurement Act (PPA) for awarding archeological studies along the route of IGB and an open procedure under PPA for selection of a construction oversight company for the Bulgarian section of the gas pipeline,” she said.

Georgieva noted that as of today both documentations have been drafted by the project company team and are undergoing approval with representatives of the shareholders.

“The procedures are expected to start in Q1 2018,” she said.

Moreover, Georgieva said that the procedure for holding the public procurement is being finalized and will start in Q1 2018. The procedure for selection of the EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contractor will be held as a restricted procedure, she added.

IGB is a gas pipeline, which will allow Bulgaria to receive Azerbaijani gas, in particular, the gas produced from Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz 2 gas and condensate field. IGB is expected to be connected to the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) via which gas from the Shah Deniz field will be delivered to the European markets.

The initial capacity of IGB will be 3 billion cubic meters of gas.
