As of October 21, 2019, the total volume of the Turkmen gas supplied to China over the past ten years has reached 252.1 billion cubic meters, Wang Zhongcai, vice president of CNPC International Ltd, said.
Zhongcai made the remarks at the international oil and gas forum in Ashgabat on Oct. 22, the source involved in the organization of the forum said, Trend reports.
"Presently, natural gas is supplied to the population of 22 provinces and autonomous regions of China, through which more than 500 million people use the Turkmen gas,” Zhongcai added. “The Chinese people are sincerely grateful to the Turkmen side."
The gas pipeline route passes through Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. The fourth gas pipeline branch is planned to be built through Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. The volumes of the exported gas will increase after the construction of the branch.
Ultimately, the volumes are planned to be brought up to 65 billion a year, which is by 1.5 times more than the current indicators.
