During eight months (March 21- Nov. 21) of this Iranian year (began March 21, 2019), renewable power plants in Iran produced 4.4 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, Trend reports referring to Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization of Iran (SATBA).
Renewable power plants in Iran produced 76 million kilowatt-hours of electricity in the eighth month, according to the report.
Electricity production by these plants in the first eight months of this Iranian year made it possible to save 1.2 billion cubic meters of gas, the report said.
Furthermore, renewable electricity generation made it possible to save 969 million liters of water and prevented emission of 3,020 cubic meters of greenhouse gas to the environment, according to the report.
The renewable power plants in Iran produce 847 megawatts of electricity.
As reported, 118 renewable power plants have been installed and 37 plants with power capacity of 360 megawatt are under construction. Private sector investment in this area is estimated at 125.1 trillion rials (about $2.9 billion).
The number of small-scale solar panel plants in Iran has reached 3,558, and 2,350 plants are under construction.
Some 43 percent of renewable energy sources in Iran account for solar energy, 36 percent for wind energy, 11 percent for hydro energy, 1 percent for thermal energy and 1 percent for biomasses.
