BP to close two platforms in Azerbaijan for planned maintenance

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec.18

BP will close two platforms, namely, Chirag and Shah Deniz Alpha in Azerbaijan for planned maintenance, BP Azerbaijan told Trend.

The maintenance, which is planned for the second half of 2020, will last for a period between one and three weeks, said the company.

BP Exploration (Caspian Sea) Limited is the operator on behalf of the Contractor Parties to the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli Production Sharing Agreement.

ACG participating interests are: BP (30.37 percent), SOCAR (25 percent), Chevron (9.57 percent), INPEX (9.31 percent), Equinor (7.27 percent), ExxonMobil (6.79 percent), TPAO (5.73 percent), ITOCHU (3.65 percent), ONGC Videsh Limited (OVL) (2.31 percent).

A contract for development of the Shah Deniz offshore field was signed on June 4, 1996. The field's reserves are estimated at 1.2 trillion cubic meters of gas.

The shareholders in the contract are BP (operator - 28.8 percent), AzSD (10 percent), SGC Upstream (6.7 percent), Petronas (15.5 percent), Lukoil (10 percent), NIOC (10 percent) and TPAO (19 percent).
