By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:

Plant construction within the framework of the long term contract for the supply of technical gases is underway in Kazakhstan, a representative of the France’s Air Liquide company told Trend.

French Air Liquide and Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries (KPI) signed a long term contract for the supply of technical gases in Oct. 2019.

The contract oversees that Air Liquide Munay Tech Gases (a joint venture between Air Liquide and national oil company KazMunayGas) will build, own and operate a new nitrogen unit in the growing chemical basin of Karabatan, close to Kazakhstan’s Atyrau refinery.

Thus, the official said that currently the JV is in the process of construction of the plant, in the Karabatan Special Economic zone, near Atyrau.

“The plant has been designed and manufactured by our engineering department as expected and the construction site was opened in April, for the start of nitrogen and steam supplies to Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries (KPI) in 2Q2021, in line with what had been previously announced,” the official said.

Talking possible expansion of activities in Kazakhstan the official said that Air Liquide Munai Tech Gases is considering further opportunities of outsourcing of industrial gas production assets for KazMunayGas refineries.

Established in 2016, Air Liquide Munay Tech Gases LLP (ALMTG) is a joint venture between Air Liquide and national oil company KazMunayGas (KMG).

The headquarter of the company is located in Kazakhstan’s Nur-Sultan city. Currently the business is focused on supplying hydrogen, nitrogen and steam to refineries in the country with a plant located in Pavlodar.
