Georgia reveals forecast for natural gas imports in 2020

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 24

Azerbaijan will provide 2.33 billion cubic meters or 91.2 percent of the natural gas to be imported by Georgia this year, Trend reports referring to the forecast of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development on natural gas imports for 2020.

Earlier, Georgia planned to purchase 2.34 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Azerbaijan.

As reported, Azerbaijan State Oil of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) will supply 1.45 billion cubic meters with the share of deliveries from Shah Deniz field amounting to 884.29 million cubic meters.

In total, Georgia will purchase 2.56 billion cubic meters of natural gas this year.

The volume of Russian gas imports will amount to 200 million cubic meters (7.8 percent of the total gas supply).

According to minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Natia Turnava, in 2019, Georgia received about 160 million cubic meters of gas from Russia's Gazprom, which was about five percent of the total volume. Last year, Georgia received from Azerbaijan 2.40 billion million cubic meters of gas.
