Iran reveals production of Bandar Abbas TPP

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 22

The Bandar Abbas Thermal Power Plant (TPP) in the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) has generated 1.7 million megawatt-hours of electricity since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020), said deputy director of Thermal Power Plant Holding’s branch in Hormozgan Province Dariush Mahmoudi said, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Energy of Iran.

According to Mahmoudi, 1.68 million megawatt-hours of this electricity was produced in the steam units of the station, and 36,700 megawatt hours in the gas units.

Mahmoudi added that more than 1.61 million megawatt-hours of produced electricity were transmitted to the electricity network.

The official noted that the overhaul of the power plant's 3rd steam unit was completed before the start of the summer, and a 320-megawatt unit started operation.

Iran's Bandar Abbas TPP has 4 steam and 2 gas units. In general, the power generation potential of this power plant is 1,320 megawatts and the TPP provides 60 percent of electricity in Hormozgan Province.
