Azerbaijan increases gas exports via Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline in January 2021

Azerbaijan exported over 1.6 billion cubic meters of gas via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline in January 2021, which is by 50 percent more than in the same month of 2020, Trend reports citing a report from the State Statistical Committee.

According to the report, 45.3 percent of all gas transported by Azerbaijan in the reporting month accounted for Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum. Over the year this indicator grew by 11.4 percentage points.

Meanwhile, more than 3.5 billion cubic meters of gas were transported through the main pipelines of Azerbaijan in 2020, which is by 7.6 percent more than in January 2020.

The length of the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline is over 700 kilometers. The gas which is produced at the Shah Deniz gas condensate field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea is transported via this gas pipeline. Gas is supplied by pipeline to Georgia and Turkey.
