Azerbaijan boosts gas exports via Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum in 1Q2021

Azerbaijan has exported 4.5 billion cubic meters of gas via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline from January through March 2021, which is 55 percent more than in the same period of 2020, Trend reports referring to a report from the State Statistical Committee.

According to the report, 46.3 percent of all gas transported by Azerbaijan in 1Q2021 accounted for Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum. Over the year this indicator grew by 11.8 percentage points.

Meanwhile, 9.8 billion cubic meters of gas were transported through the main pipelines of Azerbaijan, which is 12.8 percent more than in the first 3 months of 2020.

The length of the pipeline is over 700 kilometers. The gas which is produced at the Shah Deniz gas condensate field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea is transported via this gas pipeline. Gas is supplied by pipeline to Georgia and Turkey.
