All Iranian cities, villages to be supplied with gas

All cities and villages in Iran will be supplied with gas within the next two years, Deputy Oil Minister and CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Majid Chegeni said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

According to the deputy minister, about 7,000 cities and villages will be supplied with gas over the reporting period.

Chegeni added that so far, 1,216 cities and 34,884 villages in Iran have been supplied with gas. In other words, over 98 percent of Iran's cities and about 84 percent of villages have been supplied with gas so far.

On February 5, 2022, a groundbreaking ceremony was held to supply gas to 3 cities and 185 villages in Iran. In this regard, a 1,500 km long pipeline will be laid and 31 stations will be installed. A total of 8 trillion rials (about $190 million) will be spent in this regard.

It was decided to supply gas to 14 cities and 1,459 villages within the anniversary of the Iranian Revolution (occurred in 1979, being marked Feb. 1 through Feb. 11, 2022).
