SOCAR Announces Tender on Sale of First Cargo of Profit Oil in 2007

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has announced a tender on sale of the first tanker with 600,000 barrels of profit oil in 2007 from the Georgian Black Sea Port of Batumi, Trend reports. The shipment of the cargo is scheduled on January 2-6, 2007. The result of the tender will be published on December 7, 2006.

The Batumi oil terminal is capable of handling up to 15 million tons of bulk oil cargo a year. The terminal service tankers of 30,000-90,000 tons deadweight on four berths include a special buoy for the vessels of the Aframax class. Presently the terminal tank loading capacity is about 530,000 tons, which is more than enough for the handling of current and forecasted cargos.
