Benefits and preferences will be extended for hotels until the end of 2021 in order to support incomes in the hospitality sector, Trend reports referring to the State Committee for the Development of Tourism in Uzbekistan.

This decision was made on December 1 following a meeting at the Hilton hotel of the Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the State Committee for Tourism Aziz Abdukhakimov with the management and members of the Association of Hoteliers of Uzbekistan, general managers and owners of the largest hotels in Tashkent.

The chairman of the association, Farangiz Abdullayeva, proposed the prolongation of benefits to support incomes in the hospitality sector and not cut jobs.

The participants of the meeting also approved a vector for the adoption of a unified standard of sanitary norms and rules for the hospitality sector.

“At the moment, projects are being planned for the development of pilgrim tourism, which will ensure the loading of hotels in times of crisis. Negotiations have already been held with leading religious figures of Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh to organize a new flow of tourists to Uzbekistan,” the State Committee for Tourism said.

Earlier, a presidential decree on urgent measures to support the tourism sector to reduce the negative impact of the coronavirus pandemic was signed to "reanimate" tourism in Uzbekistan.

According to the decree, benefits and subsidies include a 50 percent reduction in the profit tax rate, the right to carry forward losses, suspension of tourist tax, bonus subsidies for tourists brought in, subsidizing the costs of tour operators for air and train tickets, and others.
