BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 26. The number of foreigners and stateless persons from 151 countries who visited Azerbaijan from January through April 2022 notably increased, Trend reports citing the State Statistics Committee.

According to the committee, this figure amounted to 330,600, up by two times on annual basis.

The committee said that 26.2 percent of the foreigners and stateless persons came from Russia, 25.3 percent - from Turkey, 14.7 percent - from Iran, 6.1 percent - from Georgia, 3.2 percent - from Ukraine, 2.6 percent – from Saudi Arabia, 2.4 percent - from the UAE, 1.9 percent - from Pakistan and India each.

Some 1.5 percent of the visitors accounted for Kazakhstan, 1.3 percent – Kuwait, 1.2 percent - the UK, and 11.7 percent - for other countries.

Besides, according to the committee, 52 percent of the foreigners and stateless persons arrived in Azerbaijan by air, 46 percent by rail and road, and two percent by sea.

The number of the visitors from Oman in the first four months of 2022 grew by 496.5 times, Kuwait – by 138.4 times, Saudi Arabia – by 138.3 times, Bahrain – by 54.6 times, UAE – by 46.3 times, Pakistan – by 30.4 times, India - by 18.4 times, Israel – by 7.3 times, the US – 5.9 times, Kazakhstan – 4.1 times, and France - 3.5 times year on year.

Meanwhile, the number of visitors from Georgia grew by 14.4 percent, the UK - by 2.3 times, Ukraine - by 2.5 times, Turkey - by 1.9 times, Iran – by 1.8 times, and Russia – by 1.6 times compared to 4M2021.
