Number of goods, containers handled at Georgian seaports, terminals up

The total number of goods and containers handled at Georgian seaports and terminals increased from January through April 2020, Trend reports referring to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.

During the reporting period, 5.9 million tons of cargo were handled in ports and terminals, which is 0.4 million tons more than in the same period in 2019.

As for the number of containers, in January-April of the current year, 185,655 containers were handled in the ports of Georgia, which is 3,292 units more than in the same period last year.

In the first four months of 2020, the cargo turnover of the country largest Poti Port amounted to 2.7 million tons, remaining unchanged compared to the previous year.

From January through April 2020, the cargo turnover of Kulevi Terminal amounted to 600,000 tons, an increase of 50 percent.

In the reporting period, the cargo turnover of Batumi Seaport reached 1.1 million tons, showing an increase of 10 percent year-on-year.

Meanwhile, the cargo turnover of Supsa Marine Terminal amounted to 1.5 million tons, which is 25 percent more compared to the period from January through April 2020.
