Number of trucks handled by Baku International Sea Trade Port up

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 10

The number of trucks handled at the Baku International Sea Trade Port from January through May 2020 increased by 11.6 percent compared to the same period of last year and reached 13,504, Zaur Hasanov, head of the international cooperation and PR department of the port, told Trend on July 10.

"As many as 3,462 out of 13,504 trucks or 25.6 percent of the total number of trucks were moving along the Baku-Kuryk-Baku route," Hasanov added.

"In June, 158 people were brought back via the Baku International Sea Trade Port to their homeland, 85 of them were citizens of Kazakhstan and 73 citizens of other countries who had to stay in Azerbaijan due to the closed borders," the head of the department said.

"The new rules for crossing the state borders of Kazakhstan during the quarantine regime entered into force since May 13, 2020," Hasanov said.

"The process of receiving the Kazakh citizens and foreign citizens with a residence permit in the country has been launched on the basis of new regulations in the Kazakh port of Kuryk," the head of the department said.

The Baku International Sea Trade Port is closely cooperating with the EU in improving the operational efficiency of port management and risk management.

The port, which already has ISO 9001: 2015, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 certificates, implements the UN Sustainable Development Goals in its business processes and operations.
