Cargo turnover increases in Georgia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept.9

The total volume of transported goods amounted to 22.2 million tons from January through July 2020 in Georgia, which is 0.6 million tons more than in the same period last year, Trend reports via the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.

During the reporting period, cargo turnover increased due to road and rail transport.

In particular, from January through July, 6.3 million tons of cargo were transported by rail, which is 0.4 million tons more than in the same period in 2019.

The indicator of road transport increased by 0.1 million tons and amounted to 15.8 million tons of cargo.

During the reporting period, the traffic carried out by civil aviation decreased significantly. In January-July 2020, this figure amounted to 8.8 million tons of cargo.

In the first 7 months of 2019, civil aviation transported 13.7 million tons of cargo.
