According to a 2019 World Bank report, Georgia's transport infrastructure ranks 83rd out of 141 countries, said Paata Tsagareishvili, CEO of Georgia Transport Corridor Research Center, Trend reports via Georgian media.

For comparison, he explains that in 2012, according to the same report, Georgia was in 54th place, in fact, in 2012-2019 Georgia dropped by 29 points in this rating.

Tsagareishvili noted that in terms of road quality, Georgia took 81st place in 2019, while in 2012 it was in 56th place, that is, dropped by 25 positions.

He emphasized that Georgia dropped 25 positions in road construction in 2012-2019. As the reason for this, the expert named the low rates of road construction in Georgia in comparison with neighboring countries.

According to the World Bank, Georgia's transport infrastructure, compared to neighboring countries, is only ahead of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, that is, landlocked countries.
