By Sadraddin Aghjayev - Trend:

Permanent Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Commission TRACECA (Transport Corridor Europe Caucasus Asia) adopted last year a report on the implementation of the strategy plan on this transport corridor for 2018-2021, Permanent Representative (National Secretary) of the PS IGC Rufat Bayramov told Trend.

According to Bayramov, the PS IGC also approved an action plan on the above strategy for 2022-2026, held a number of meetings of the permanent (national) secretaries, prepared and held a meeting of the intergovernmental commission.

"In general, at this meeting, about 16 issues were considered and resolved. Among the important projects, the concepts of the TRACECA corridor digitalization and the container traffic development until 2030, a document on a single transit permit and some others that relate to institutional reforms inside the secretariat should be mentioned," he noted.

The official also noted that within the framework of the reforms, internal procedures for holding intergovernmental commissions, the internal regulations and the structure of the Permanent Secretariat were changed.

"Another noteworthy fact is that Azerbaijan chaired TRACECA for the last two years, and since 2022, the chairmanship has passed to Bulgaria," Bayramov said.

The national secretary also noted that, in general, a lot of events were held, covering all countries participating in the corridor.

"The events included holding of seminars (on the safety of air transportation, as well as road carriers with the participation of various international organizations), and high-level meetings,” Bayramov reminded.

“At the same time, during the last meeting of the intergovernmental commission, along with a report on the implementation of the strategy plan and an action plan on the strategy, a plan to ensure the safety of navigation in the countries participating in the TRACECA corridor was adopted, and rules for determining routes were worked out," he added.
