ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 14. Turkmenistan proposes to consider the possibility of launching a Central Asian transport and logistics platform, said President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov in his speech at the 5th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia, Trend reports.
"The main task of this platform could be to consider the issues of creating transport hubs in the region, forming new and improving the efficiency of existing transit corridors, optimizing and harmonizing customs, migration and other procedures along international transport routes passing through the territory of our states," he said.
According to him, the transport sector has been and remains a strategic component of cooperation between the Central Asian countries.
Berdimuhamedov noted that joint efforts are gradually creating favorable conditions for cargo and passenger traffic between the Central Asian countries, as well as with other regions of the Eurasian continent.
"I am sure that mutually beneficial cooperation will give a good impetus to economic growth, create prerequisites for the formation of conditions in Central Asia for broad intraregional and international integration," he said.
