CSTO participants discuss joint peacekeeping exercises

A round of staff negotiations on joint peacekeeping exercises with the Collective Peacekeeping Forces of the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) 'Unbreakable Brotherhood-2012' has begun in Almaty, Kazakhstan today, the Kazakh Defence Ministry reported today.

The exercises are planned to be held in the first half of October. They will be held at three Kazakh polygones, 'Iliski', 'Shoshkala' and 'Coast' in the Almaty region.

The peacekeeping contingent of the armed forces of six countries: Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan will take part in the exercises. Military experts of these countries, as well as representatives of the Secretariat and the CSTO Joint Staff gathered today at the roundtable to discuss preparing and holding joint peacekeeping exercises.

Delegations of the CSTO countries meet to discuss the details of the Unbreakable Brotherhood exercises for the second time. The first staff talks were held in Almaty in April. Then the parties discussed the main issues to ensure the exercises.

The negotiators will have to consolidate the earlier agreement.
