An international terminal will be built at Kyzylorda airport in the autumn of 2014, the akim (governor) of Kyzyl-Orda Krymbek Kusherbayev said at a briefing of the Central Communications Service for the President of Kazakhstan on Friday.
"It is planned to construct a modern international terminal at Kyzylorda airport. The runway at the airport is in good condition as three years ago it was upgraded. With the support of oil companies' social projects, we have developed the project which is now under examination. By the autumn of 2014, the international terminal will have been built," Kusherbayev said.
According to him, this issue has already been considered jointly with ICAO and the CIS State Aviation Committee.
"In addition, we already have an airport in the city of Baikonur. We are discussing with our Russian counterparts the possibility of its use. All this creates significant potential for the region," the regional head said.
