BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 24

By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:

Kazakhstan’s processing industry remains the main driver of economic growth despite the GDP growth slowdown in the country, Trend reports citing Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development.

The industry’s output volume increased by 3.3 percent over 11 months of 2020 as compared to the same period of last year. The output increase is observed in almost all areas of the processing industry, including metallurgy where output increased by 1.6 percent,

For example, production in non-ferrous metallurgy increased by 2.2 percent. The largest copper producer of Kazakhstan, i.e. Kazakhmys Corporation increased the volume of production of refined copper by 8 percent, gold in bars by 35 percent, and silver in granules by 25 percent.

Kazakhstan Electrolysis Plant also increased the production of primary aluminum during the reporting period of 2020. This year the plant signed 11 contracts with Kazakh consumers of primary aluminum. In addition, the enterprise continues to export 90 percent of produced goods. The goods are exported to more than 20 countries near and far abroad, such as Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Italy, Turkey and others.

Tau-Ken Altyn also increased the production of refined gold by 6.4 percent, and of refined silver by 46.7 percent. Last year the company confirmed the highest quality of its products and received worldwide recognition as a reliable supplier.

The refinery, producing gold with a purity of at least 99.99 percent, has received the GoodDelivery certificate of the London Precious Metals Association, which gives an opportunity for trading on all world exchanges without restrictions.

The output increase in ferrous metallurgy amounted to 0.4 percent over 11 months of 2020. Production growth was achieved in several enterprises operating in the sector. Thus, the Evraz Caspian Steel plant increased the production of rebar by 8 percent.

Taraz Metallurgical Plant increased the production volume of ferrosilicon manganese by 20 percent, Casting LLP increased commercial output of fittings, balls, and round timber by 7.3 percent.
