BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 5. Kazakhstan shouldn't abandon coal yet, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said this during his trip to Pavlodar region, Trend reports.
Tokayev noted that coal accounts for more than 70 percent of Kazakhstan's energy balance. He also referred to the fact that even the European Union, which advocates green technologies, is again returning to fossil fuels due to the existing geopolitical situation.
"I believe Kazakhstan shouldn't abandon coal yet. However, there are very good technologies that allow to minimize coal emissions into the atmosphere as a result of power plants. Kazakhstan must use these advanced technologies in its production,” Tokayev said.
