Kazakhstan, Germany to develop cooperation in agriculture

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 17. Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture of Germany and Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan signed a Joint Statement on the further development and deepening of cooperation within the framework of the bilateral project "German-Kazakh Agrarian-Political Dialogue," Trend reports.

The document was signed following a meeting between the Vice Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Abulkhair Tamabek and the Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture Ophelia Nick.

During the meeting, Tamabek stated that Kazakhstan and Germany's priority areas of cooperation are seed production and plant protection, digital farming, and agricultural innovation.

Abulkhair Tamabek also met with Per Brodersen, the Director of the German Agribusiness Alliance. The parties talked about seed production and fertilizer manufacturing. The parties signed a memorandum following the meeting.

From January through September 2023, the agricultural trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Germany amounted to $94 million.

The volume of exports from Kazakhstan to Germany amounted to $23.5 million, imports from Germany to Kazakhstan – $70.3 million.
